BDO Fashion

BDO Fashion's character galleries are a chance for people to show off their characters. This is not intended to be a template sharing site, but people can choose to include one if they want. If there isn't a template link on a character post, the submitter did not include one. Don't bother to ask me for the link (here or on social media), I don't have one. Repeatedly asking for one in the comments or saying "where's the download link?" is unlikely to convince the submitter to provide one. Adding your email address to the comments is an excellent way to ensure you receive a ton of spam email.

How to Search Using the Side Bar “Search” or “Filter”

BDO Fashion has fairly robust mechanisms for searching for specific posts, the side bar Search and Filter.

If you have questions about how to use Search or the Filter, please take a look at this guide and then play around with them a bit. If you still have questions, please feel free to Contact me or type in the comments. Also, if you have suggestions for other categories, let me know.

NOTE: I often add new categories long after I post a set and don’t always get a chance to go back and tag every post with the new categories. If you know of a post that should be tagged with a specific category, please let me know so I can update it.

WordPress has a built-in search function. You can find this at the top of the side bar. All you need to do is type in what you want to find and hit “Enter” on your keyboard. Unlike Google, it’s pretty particular about spelling, so if you spell something incorrectly, it won’t return any results.

One nice thing about the search is it will return any posts with a particular costume or weapon listed, including all of the characters if the submitter added that information. For example, you can type in “Burning Flames” and see not only the BNS Fashion post, but every character that uses that costume. Just remember that not everyone puts that information into the form when they submit their sets.

Explanation of the Category System

Every post on BDO Fashion is tagged with WordPress “Categories” that allow me to sort the post into specific groups. You can see this information at the top of any post directly under the title, between the Post Author and Number of Comments. I leave this information on each post because some people find it helpful, but it is primarily there to help sort posts. That’s why the same word may appear more than once.

Tagging each post with these categories is useful in two ways.

  1. It allows me to create groups of posts anywhere on the site that update automatically when I tag a post with the same “Categories.” This is done through a specialized plugin. You can see examples of this on the Front Page under “Newest Characters,” on any post under “All Items,” and on most pages located on the main menu. All Items
  2. It allows you to filter the posts so you can search for particular items. This is another specialized plugin where you can check off multiple categories to help narrow down your search. You do have to open the widget up by clicking on it because with so many categories listed, it is quite long.

How to Use the Filter

Click on the Filter button to open the Filter menu. Whenever there is a down arrow, you can expand the menu for more choices. There are only two options when you open the Filter menu. “Characters” applies to only those characters submitted by users of the site. “Database’ applies to all of the visual database items. You cannot pick and choose categories in both sections.

Filter Expand

This section covers the characters users submit to the site. Attempting to mix and match options from “Database” with this section will not return any results. You can choose “Characters” to return all characters submitted to the site in reverse order of when they were submitted (newest first). This is helpful if you haven’t visited BNS Fashion in awhile and you want to see more than the last 12 posts. Alternatively, you can click on the down arrow and choose selections from the other categories. NOTE: For this section, do not choose a category (other than “Characters”) with a down arrow next to it. Those will not return any posts.

This category applies to all visual database items on the site. Choosing any of these categories will not return any items. You must click the down arrow and choose items under these categories.

This section lists the different sources and applies to all visual database items. Clicking “Acquired” will not return any items. Clicking one of the categories without an arrow will return items. Clicking categories with an arrow below “Acquired” may or may not return any items. It’s best to use categories listed under these headings, if possible.

This category lists the different item types that have posts on BDO Fashion. Choosing “Items” will not display any items, but any of the main categories (eg., Accessory, Armor, Weapons) under this section will. It’s useful to combine one of these main categories with those under “Acquired” or “Miscellaneous” to return only one type of item. For example, to return looted weapons, you can choose “Looted” under “Acquired” and “Weapons.”

You do not need to use these main categories in combination with those located under each heading. For example, if you want to see only looted axes, you can just click “Axe” under “Weapons.: You do not need to also click “Weapons”.

This sections contains categories that are applicable to more than one item type. Choosing those categories with a down arrow will not return any items.

Item Types

To differentiate between those items that have stats and are worn on the inner ring of your character screen and the ones that are appearance only, I tagged all items with “Equipment” and “Costume.” Equipment refers to items with stats (inner ring), costumes refers to appearance only items (outer ring).

If you are still unclear about how to search for something, please let me know in the comments or via the Contact form. Also, I appreciate any constructive feedback you might have about this guide or the category system.
